VARICOSE VEINS

What Are Varicose Veins?

Varicose veins are dilated superficial veins, usually in the legs. There is a spectrum ranging from telangiectasias (dilated interdermal venules less than 1 mm), through to reticular veins (non-palpable subdermal veins 1–3 mm) to varicose veins (greater than 3 mm). Varicose veins are more common than previously thought. Although, varicose veins can develop on almost any area of the body—the legs and calves are the most commonly struck due to jobs or lifestyles where long durations of standing and walking put excess pressure on the veins in the body’s lower extremities..

LEG SPIDER VEINS

What are spider Veins

Spider veins are small red, purple or blue veins located just below the surface of the skin. They can have a web-like appearance, hence, the term “spider vein.” Most spider veins have an unattractive cosmetic appearance that makes patients uncomfortable and self-aware.

The most common symptom of spider veins is stinging or itching. Spider veins result from reticular veins, often called “feeder veins,” or from improper function of the major leg veins. If the patient is also experiencing pain and swelling in the leg, Dr. Kundu may use ultrasound to make a complete diagnosis.

HAND & FACIAL VEINS

What are Hand & Facial Veins?

Facial Vein Treatment | Toronto

Are you one of millions who suffer from embarrassing spider veins, red spots or redness on your chin, cheeks and nose?  Facial veins are quite inconvenient. Also called broken capillaries, facial veins alter the appearance of your face, and can be unsightly, causing self-consciousness and a loss of confidence. A range of factors, including age, heredity, lifestyle, and diet are contributing factors.  These veins usually appear in three basic shapes: linear, branch-like or spider-shaped, with a dark center point.

Bulging veins on the back of our hands develop over time as we age. The elastic fibers in vein walls lose their elasticity, causing the veins to dilate. Also the skin becomes thinner, resulting in veins that show more prominently. Most dilated hand veins do not signify any serious vascular condition; the concern is primarily cosmetic. Along with our faces, our hands are almost always visible. Therefore, signs of aging in these areas are eminently noticeable.

I am a nurse practitioner and being on my feet all day plus genetically incline to get varicose veins and spider veins chose to go to the Vein institute on Davenport. Cindy the nurse was amazing. Honest, gentle, and a perfectionist. She made this a wonderful experience and highly recommend her to perform sclerotherapy. She has a huge heart, excellent bedside manners and is truly an expert at her job. Thank you Cindy, My mom can’t wait for you to treat her next and a few nurses I work with and friends. Highly recommended!!

I’ve been many times for treatments and have had friendly, professional service consistently, as well as great success with the treatments received. I would recommend them for treating all types of veins including facial ones. (my family physician went there and suggested).
